CBC/Radio-Canada serves the second largest and one of the most diverse countries in the world. Our new five-year strategy, 2015: Everyone. Every way, launched on February 1, 2011, recognises that the public broadcaster can't be all things to all people. In its scope, however, it stakes the claim that we can be something for, and mean something to, every Canadian. Whether it's connecting them to this country, to their communities, or to each other as individuals with their own realities and interests, CBC/Radio-Canada will be there — for everyone, every way. But, to deliver our strategic plan for Canadians, we need the CRTC to give us a modern, flexible regulatory framework.
More programming that helps create a shared national identity
Completion of the renewal of our English and French news services
More original, innovative and entertaining homegrown stories
Overwhelmingly Canadian prime-time schedule
Greater diversity on our airwaves
Ten multiplatform signature events per year on our English and French networks
Signature events are CBC/Radio-Canada's innovative multiplatform media and community events designed to deliver significant cultural impact and to bring together Canadians. These events are unique to the national public broadcaster and like nothing provided by other Canadian broadcasters. Examples include CBC's recent and highly successful healthy living initiative, Live Right Now, and its hugely popular annual CBC's Hockey Day in Canada; and Radio-Canada's Christmas Concert with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal.
Soon, our networks will announce their new signature events for the upcoming Fall season.
On March 5, 2012, Radio-Canada announced EXPLORA, a new Radio-Canada specialty channel for viewers to discover starting March 28.
EXPLORA will deliver a larger-than-life viewing experience as it delves into the fascinating worlds of health, science, nature and the environment.
